Balochistan Govt to Assign Special Branch Authority to Monitor Attendance in All Departments

Quetta (Daily Qudrat): The Government of Balochistan has taken a major decision to improve discipline and curb absenteeism in public offices by granting the Special Branch Police authority to monitor attendance across all civil departments.
According to sources, the move will cover key departments including health, education, communications and works (B&R), municipal corporations, public health engineering, irrigation, fisheries, and agriculture.
Under the proposed mechanism, Special Branch officials will conduct daily visits to offices and field units to check the presence of staff, ranging from senior officers such as XENs, medical superintendents (MS), and district health officers (DHOs) to field supervisors and lower-grade employees.
A comprehensive daily report will be compiled, detailing attendance, absenteeism, late arrivals, and overall performance of each department. This report will be submitted directly to the Chief Minister of Balochistan, enabling swift action or corrective measures against officials where necessary.
Officials believe the initiative will enhance efficiency, accountability, and transparency in government institutions while ensuring improved public service delivery—particularly in critical sectors like health and education, where absenteeism has been a persistent issue.
Sources further indicated that a formal notification is expected within the next one to two days, after which the policy will be implemented. The government views the step as a significant move toward strengthening governance and administrative performance in the province.
