Transport Fares Increased After Rise in Petroleum Prices

Lahore (Qudrat Daily): Following a recent increase in petroleum product prices, transporters have raised fares on various intercity routes after negotiations with the Regional Transport Authority (RTA).
According to officials, a meeting between the RTA secretary and transporters resulted in an agreed fare increase of 3 to 4 percent.
As per the revised rates, the fare from Lahore to Multan has increased from Rs1,760 to Rs1,810, while the fare to Okara has gone up from Rs800 to Rs850. Similarly, the fare from Lahore to Dera Ghazi Khan has risen from Rs1,990 to Rs2,050, and to Bahawalpur from Rs2,100 to Rs2,160.
Other routes have also seen increases, with fares from Lahore to Sukkur rising from Rs6,450 to Rs6,710, to Hyderabad from Rs9,270 to Rs9,640, to Islamabad from Rs3,350 to Rs3,480, and to Peshawar from Rs3,480 to Rs3,530.
Transporters cited rising fuel costs as the primary reason behind the fare adjustments, while authorities stated that the increase was kept minimal to reduce the burden on passengers.
