Imran Khan Fails to Secure Major Relief in GHQ Attack Case Video Link Trial Petition

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan did not receive significant relief from the Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court in his petition challenging the video link trial in the General Headquarters (GHQ) attack case.

A division bench comprising Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan and Justice Waheed Khan heard the case, with Khan’s counsels Salman Akram Raja and Faisal Malik representing him.

The court rejected the request for a stay order against the proceedings but admitted the petition for hearing. Notices were issued to the Advocate General of Punjab and the Chief Secretary Punjab.

During the hearing, Raja argued that the video link arrangement was introduced to target a single individual. The court, however, observed that the trial could not be stopped since the law permits video link proceedings. The Chief Secretary was directed to submit a response by October 6.

It is noteworthy that after initial objections, the notification for Khan’s video link trial was re-challenged on September 24.
