Balochistan Govt Moves to Strengthen Madrassa Registration Amid Reports of Foreign Presence

Quetta: The Government of Balochistan has decided to further streamline and strengthen the registration process of madrassas across the province following reports of foreign funding and the presence of foreign nationals in some unregistered institutions.
According to available data, around 300 madrassas in the province have been identified as unregistered, with authorities investigating reports of suspicious activities at these institutions. Overall, approximately 2,600 madrassas are operating in Balochistan, of which about 2,200 are already registered, while efforts are underway to bring the remaining institutions into the legal framework.
Sources said the government aims to ensure transparency in the process and avoid any misunderstandings by taking religious leadership into confidence, including Maulana Abdul Wasey and other scholars.
Officials stated that the objective is to bring all madrassas under the Balochistan Charities Act 2019, ensuring their activities are properly documented and regulated. Authorities believe that completing the registration process will not only strengthen the legal standing of these institutions but also help prevent any potential illegal activities.
The government emphasized that the process will be carried out through mutual consultation with stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation.
