Maulana Fazlur Rehman Says Parliamentary Supremacy Needed, Opposes “Institutional Dominance”

Lodhran: Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, has said that the supremacy of Parliament and the Constitution is essential for resolving the country’s problems, stressing that dominance of any single institution cannot ensure stability.
He made the remarks while speaking to media after offering condolences at the residence of a party leader in Lodhran, following the death of local JUI-F district leader Mian Muhammad.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that rising inflation remains a serious concern for his party, adding that JUI-F will continue to fight for the rights of the public. He stated that the party has postponed its protest call against inflation but remains committed to what he described as a struggle for public relief.
Commenting on governance, he said Pakistan must be governed through the Constitution and law, adding that parliamentary supremacy should prevail. “No single institution’s dominance can resolve the country’s issues,” he remarked.
He also said that local government elections are a constitutional and legal matter, and his party would respond after provincial governments make their decisions.
On international affairs, the JUI-F chief said that global conditions have created instability and tension worldwide. He criticized the United States, saying it often portrays itself as a victim despite being powerful.
Regarding internal security, he said law and order is purely a provincial matter, and reiterated support for provincial autonomy. He assured that JUI-F would never abandon the public and would continue advocating for their rights.
