Pakistan’s Mediation Efforts Gain Momentum as Iran–US Talks Expected in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Diplomatic efforts led by Pakistan have reportedly gained traction, with renewed prospects for Iran–United States talks following recent consultations with a Pakistani mediation team.
According to government sources, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is expected to arrive in Islamabad tonight, while a US logistics and security team is already present in the capital to make necessary arrangements for potential negotiations.
Officials said that intensive discussions between the Pakistani facilitation team and both sides have created strong possibilities for a second round of Iran–US peace talks to be held in Islamabad.
Ahead of the visit, diplomatic contacts have intensified, including telephonic conversations between Araghchi and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar as well as Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir.
The discussions reportedly focused on reducing regional tensions and advancing dialogue-based solutions to ongoing disputes.
Pakistan is currently playing the role of a key facilitator between the two countries, and the possible Islamabad meeting is being viewed as a significant step toward regional peace and stability.
Sources added that the presence of relevant stakeholders in Islamabad indicates that behind-the-scenes diplomacy has now entered a decisive phase, raising hopes for meaningful progress in the talks.
