Balochistan Govt Aide Babar Yousufzai Says BYC “Victimhood Narrative Has Failed” in Province

QUETTA: Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Balochistan, Babar Yousufzai, has said that the “victimhood card” of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has now completely failed in Balochistan.
Talking to the media, he said that during a recent court appearance, attempts were made to repeat what he called a “recycled narrative” in order to gain public sympathy. He claimed that such efforts were unsuccessful and no longer resonate with the people of the province.
Babar Yousufzai stated that when journalists asked about the nature of cases registered against BYC-linked individuals, no clear explanation was provided. He maintained that these cases were not initiated by the state or government but were the result of their own activities, which they are fully aware of.
Rejecting claims that lawyers were being prevented from appearing in court, he said that, in reality, no one is willing to defend them and their own supporters are not consistently appearing before the judiciary.
The special assistant further criticized the group for allegedly glorifying individuals killed in violent incidents, saying that calling such figures “martyrs” is misleading the public and youth in Balochistan. He specifically referred to individuals named Wadood and Sufyan Kurd in this context.
He asserted that the people of Balochistan have now recognized the reality behind such narratives and will no longer accept what he termed as misinformation. He added that efforts will continue to expose such “false narratives,” emphasizing that the future of Balochistan lies in education, peace, and development.
