Anti-Corruption Launches Probe into Alleged Financial Irregularities in Balochistan Irrigation Department

Quetta: The Balochistan Anti-Corruption Establishment has initiated an investigation into alleged corruption and financial irregularities in the provincial Irrigation Department, seeking records related to a number of development projects and departmental expenditures.

According to sources, the Anti-Corruption Establishment has sent an official letter to the Secretary of the Irrigation Department requesting detailed information on various development and non-development projects, financial records, and administrative matters.

The requested documents include budget details for the Nasirabad Canal System, records of the Kachhi Canal, Pat Feeder Canal, and Kirthar Canal projects, as well as documentation related to the restoration of protective embankments following the 2022 floods, watercourse lining projects, infrastructure development schemes, the purchase and disposal of government vehicles, and departmental audit reports.

The Anti-Corruption Establishment has directed the Irrigation Department to provide the requested records as soon as possible to facilitate the investigation.

The inquiry is currently at the information-gathering stage, and no findings or conclusions regarding the allegations have been announced by the authorities.
