Kashmiri Youth Sets World Record by Handwriting Quran on 500-Meter Paper Scroll

SRINAGAR: A 27-year-old Kashmiri youth has set a new world record by hand-copying the Quran on a 500-meter-long sheet of paper, earning international recognition for his dedication and craftsmanship.
According to media reports, Mustafa Ibn Jameel, a resident of Gurez in Bandipora district, completed the handwritten manuscript after seven months of intense effort, working nearly 18 hours a day.
His achievement has been recognized by the Lincoln Book of Records, which awarded him for creating the exceptionally long handwritten نسخة. The manuscript measures approximately 14.5 inches in width and stretches 500 meters in length.

Mustafa, now working as a calligrapher, shared that he turned to calligraphy after being unable to continue higher education due to difficulties in mathematics. He revealed that he first handwrote the Quran in 2017 and has since completed three copies.
He noted that the process requires immense patience, focus, and dedication, and credited his success to perseverance and faith.
Initially, Mustafa had planned to write the Quran on a 1,500-meter-long paper, but financial constraints limited the project to 500 meters. The total cost of the work was approximately 250,000 Indian rupees, with financial support provided by close relatives.
Describing himself as a self-taught artist, Mustafa expressed hope that his achievement would inspire young people to strengthen their connection with the Quran and appreciate the art of calligraphy.
