Experts Say Strait of Hormuz Tensions Hindering Next Round of U.S.-Iran Talks

Diplomatic and defense experts have warned that a second round of negotiations between the United States and Iran is unlikely unless tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz are eased.

Speaking on Capital Talk on Geo News, former Pakistan ambassador to the United Nations, Munir Akram, said that a ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran appears more likely than a comprehensive agreement at this stage.

Former Pakistan ambassador to Iran, Asif Durrani, along with defense analyst Zahid Mahmood, also weighed in on the situation. They suggested that statements by former U.S. President Donald Trump could raise concerns about potential insider trading implications.

The experts reiterated that unless the situation in the Strait of Hormuz improves and restrictions are lifted, prospects for meaningful dialogue between Washington and Tehran will remain limited.
