BZFA Continues Crackdown on Unregistered and Poor-Quality Bottled Water in Quetta; 11 More Illegal Water Plants Sealed

Quetta: The Balochistan Food Authority (BZFA) has intensified its operations against substandard and unregistered bottled water in Quetta, sealing multiple water plants across the city. During recent raids in various areas, three water plants were shut down on Puraan Sabzal Road, Western Bypass, and Jabal Noor, where issues such as poor sanitation, rodent infestation, lack of registration, and incorrect labeling were identified.
Additionally, numerous water samples were collected and sent for detailed laboratory testing. In Nawa Killi, Kala Shabu, and Chashma Achuzai, three more water plants were sealed due to problems including algae presence in tanks, discrepancies in expiry dates, and lack of safety measures. During inspections of six RO (Reverse Osmosis) units on Sirki Road and surrounding areas, one unit was sealed, and another was fined for violations.
Further actions were taken in Double Road and Satellite Town, where four water plants were sealed for violations of food safety laws. Several samples were also collected for laboratory analysis.
According to Habibullah Khan, Director General of Balochistan Food Authority, providing safe and quality bottled water to the public is a top priority. He emphasized that unregistered and poor-quality water supply will not be tolerated and that strict legal action will continue against violators.
He urged citizens to ensure they only consume authentic and registered bottled water to safeguard their health. With the arrival of summer, the authority has announced that the crackdown will be intensified under a zero-tolerance policy, aiming to prevent potential waterborne diseases and protect public health.
