Balochistan CM Sarfraz Bugti Meets University VCs, Vows Reforms in Salaries, Staffing and Education Standards

Quetta:Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, held a key meeting with Vice Chancellors of various universities across the province, led by Provincial Education Minister Raheela Hameed Durrani. The meeting focused on financial and administrative issues facing the universities.
During the discussion, it was decided that disparities in university staff salaries would be eliminated by introducing a uniform pay structure. The government also committed to discouraging the hiring of unnecessary support staff and to phasing out such practices.
Chief Minister Bugti emphasized the need for merit-based and transparent governance in the higher education sector. He directed the universities to prioritize the development of modern, market-relevant departments over outdated or redundant fields. He also instructed that concrete steps be taken to increase universities’ revenue generation.
Highlighting the role of educators, the Chief Minister said that teachers play a crucial role in shaping the nation and guiding the youth. He stressed the importance of promoting extracurricular activities that strengthen students’ connection with the state.
“Constructing buildings is not enough,” he noted, “it is the quality of education and teaching that determines success.”
The meeting was attended by Provincial Education Minister Raheela Hameed Durrani, Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, Secretary of Higher Education Saleh Baloch, Principal Secretary to the CM Babar Khan, Secretary Finance Imran Zarkoon, and Vice Chancellors from various universities.
