JUI-F Warns Against Any Action on Religious Seminaries, Threatens Nationwide Protest Movement

Quetta (Khabar Daily) — Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Balochistan chief Senator Maulana Abdul Wasey has strongly warned the government against any interference, legislation, or administrative pressure targeting religious seminaries (madaris), vowing strong political resistance if such steps are taken.
Addressing a “Protection of Madaris Conference” organized by JUI-F in Chaman, he said the party’s stance on seminaries is not subject to political expediency, compromise, or power-sharing arrangements, but is based on firm ideological and constitutional principles.
He cautioned that if seminaries are targeted, the party will launch a full-scale political resistance from the streets to parliament, including public mobilization, to challenge the government.
Maulana Abdul Wasey alleged that certain elements are attempting to create confrontation between seminaries and the administration as part of a broader effort to marginalize religious institutions and exclude them from the national mainstream.
He emphasized that seminaries are not just educational institutions but represent religious identity, intellectual independence, and cultural values. He added that they have historically played a key role in providing intellectual and religious leadership.
Criticizing government policies, he claimed that instead of focusing on governance, authorities are allegedly acting under external pressure and pursuing measures that could lead to conflict with religious institutions.
He further declared that JUI-F is prepared for a decisive struggle and will not limit its response to statements alone, but will launch a strong public movement and constitutional resistance if any action is taken against madaris.
The JUI-F leader reiterated that protecting religious seminaries is a “red line” for the party and no compromise will be made on the issue.
