Iran Rejects Participation in Second Round of Talks with US: Foreign Ministry Spokesperson

Tehran: Iran has informed that it will not participate in the second round of negotiations with the United States, according to Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei.
Speaking to media, Baghaei said that Iran has communicated to the Pakistani mediator that its delegation will not travel to Islamabad for the next round of talks, adding that there is no intention to engage in further negotiations at this stage.
He alleged that the United States violated the ceasefire and has shown a lack of seriousness in advancing diplomatic efforts. He further claimed that Washington has engaged in aggressive actions and breached the terms of the truce.
The Iranian spokesperson described US proposals as “non-serious” and its demands as “unrealistic,” stating that Iran has clearly outlined its position and will not change its core demands.
Baghaei said Iran does not believe in deadlines or ultimatums when it comes to protecting its national interests. He warned that if the US and Israel initiate further aggression, Iranian armed forces would respond accordingly.
He also alleged that prior to recent developments, the Strait of Hormuz was secure, but regional tensions and military actions have disrupted stability in the area. He added that maritime movement in the Strait cannot return to normal unilaterally under current wartime-like conditions.
According to him, the United States has twice violated negotiation processes, carried out attacks, and caused civilian casualties and infrastructure damage in Iran, which he said constitutes a breach of international law and ceasefire agreements.
