US Temporarily Lifts Sanctions on Russian Oil Until April 11, Reports Say

WASHINGTON — According to American media reports, the United States has temporarily lifted sanctions on Russian oil. The U.S. Department of the Treasury stated that this exemption will remain in effect until April 11.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen acknowledged that, unfortunately, the move may provide some benefit to Russia, but emphasized that the relief is short-term. She also highlighted that former President Donald Trump’s energy-friendly policies had previously pushed U.S. oil and gas production to record levels.
According to a U.S. report, Russian oil supply increased by 1.6 million barrels last week, reaching a total of 21.7 million barrels. China purchased 12.4 million barrels from Russia, while India increased its imports by 200,000 barrels, bringing its total to 8.6 million barrels.
The report further noted that deliveries of Russian oil to Turkey’s ports totaled 700,000 barrels, and following the U.S. exemption, 30 million barrels of Russian oil reached Indian shores. India is expected to receive an additional 5 million barrels of Russian oil next week.
