Venezuela Vice President Responds to US Claim of Arrest of President Maduro and First Lady

Caracas: Following claims by the United States that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores have been arrested during a US military operation, Venezuela’s Vice President Delcy Rodríguez has issued her first official response.
According to international news agencies, Vice President Rodríguez addressed the nation on state television, expressing serious concern over what she described as an extraordinary and alarming situation in the country.
She stated that the Venezuelan government has so far received no verified information regarding the whereabouts or condition of President Maduro and the First Lady. Rodríguez said efforts are ongoing to determine where they are being held and in what state.
Condemning the US military action, she described it as blatant imperialist aggression and directly called on former US President Donald Trump to provide proof that President Maduro and his wife are alive.
The Vice President further claimed that reports are emerging from different parts of the country indicating the deaths of government officials, military personnel, and civilians as a result of the US strikes, calling the situation deeply troubling.
Appealing to the nation, Rodríguez urged citizens to remain united, patient, and resilient, saying Venezuela is passing through an extremely critical phase.
It is worth noting that earlier, Donald Trump claimed that the United States had arrested President Nicolás Maduro and his wife during a large-scale military operation and transferred them out of Venezuela. While Trump did not disclose their current location, US officials have stated that Maduro was taken to the United States for legal proceedings.
The situation remains tense as conflicting claims continue to emerge and international attention remains focused on developments in Venezuela.
