Pakistan Steps Up Diplomacy for Iran-US Talks; PM in Saudi Arabia, Army Chief Visits Tehran

Islamabad: Pakistan has intensified its diplomatic efforts to facilitate dialogue between Iran and the United States, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visiting Saudi Arabia and Army Chief Asim Munir arriving in Tehran.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Asim Munir, who also serves as Chief of Defence Forces, reached Tehran on Wednesday along with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and a high-level delegation.
The ISPR stated that the visit is part of Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to support reconciliation between Iran and the United States and to ease regional tensions. The initiative aims to pave the way for dialogue and ensure stability in the region.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei confirmed that messages are being exchanged between Iran and the US through Pakistan, and that Tehran would host the Pakistani delegation as part of continued diplomatic engagement.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Saudi Arabia on an official visit, where he was received at King Abdulaziz International Airport by the Governor of Jeddah.
During his visit, the prime minister is expected to meet Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to discuss strengthening longstanding bilateral relations, expanding economic cooperation, and reviewing the evolving regional situation.
The prime minister is accompanied by a delegation including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, and spokesperson for international media Musharraf Zaidi.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to continue his official tour until April 18, with visits to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Türkiye.
