Imran Khan Named Key Accused as FIA Prepares Challan in Foreign Funding Case

Islamabad (News Desk) — The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has made a significant development in the prohibited foreign funding case by naming Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan as the principal accused and preparing a formal challan.
According to media reports, the comprehensive 57-page challan is expected to be submitted in the relevant court by tomorrow. A total of 11 individuals have been named in the case.
The FIA challan reportedly includes senior political figures such as Tariq Shafi and Hamid Zaman, among others. It also states that Arif Naqvi, Tariq Rahim Sheikh, and another accused have been declared proclaimed offenders.
Investigations have revealed that approximately 1,800 transactions were carried out from different countries into PTI-linked accounts, amounting to around 2.1 million US dollars.
The report further claims that these funds were deposited into accounts allegedly registered under the name “Naya Pakistan,” and that a company named “Vote on Cricket Limited” also transferred significant amounts.
According to sources cited in the challan, the FIA has included detailed financial records and documentary evidence of all transactions as part of its investigation.
The accused are alleged to have received prohibited funding from foreign companies and individuals in violation of Pakistani laws. Following the submission of the challan, the case is expected to open a new legal and political front in the country. The FIA has also decided to request an early hearing of the case in court.
The foreign funding case is considered one of the longest-running political cases in Pakistan’s history, originally initiated by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). The central issue revolves around whether a political party received funds from foreign nationals or entities, which is prohibited under Pakistani law.
With the FIA now moving the case from electoral scrutiny to criminal proceedings, the development is expected to have significant implications for PTI’s leadership and political standing.
