FIA Deputy Director Removed from Post After Trader Assault Incident in Karachi

Karachi: The Federal Investigation Agency (Federal Investigation Agency) has removed Deputy Director FIA Anti-Corruption Circle Ali Mardan from his position following the alleged assault of a trader in Karachi’s Saddar Sarafa Bazaar.

The incident, which raised concerns among the trader community over misuse of authority, drew widespread attention after a video showing a shopkeeper being assaulted during an FIA raid went viral on social media.

According to an FIA spokesperson, the Director FIA Karachi Zone took immediate notice of the incident and ordered legal as well as departmental action against the officials involved in the alleged violence.

Acting on these directives, two officers were suspended. Assistant Director Syed Ali Mardan Shah, who was serving as in-charge of the FIA Anti-Corruption Circle Karachi, was removed from his post and transferred to headquarters. Meanwhile, Assistant Director Rabab Qazi was transferred from FIA ACC to FIA AHTC.

The spokesperson added that SHO Anti-Corruption Circle Muhammad Iqbal had already been suspended earlier. A case has also been registered against a private individual accused of slapping a citizen during the incident.

Furthermore, a departmental inquiry has been launched against all officers and personnel present at the scene to ensure a complete, transparent, and impartial investigation into all aspects of the matter.
