Global Leaders Express Disappointment as US-Iran Islamabad Talks Fail to Reach Deal

International leaders have expressed disappointment after talks between the United States and Iran in Islamabad ended without a breakthrough agreement, while urging continued diplomatic efforts to resolve tensions.
UK Health Secretary Wes Streeting said in an interview that the lack of a deal should not signal the end of negotiations. He emphasized that dialogue must continue despite the setback.
Australia’s Foreign Minister Penny Wong called on both Washington and Tehran to return to the negotiating table and maintain the ceasefire, stressing the urgency of resolving the crisis.
The European Union also underscored the critical need for diplomacy to address the ongoing tensions in the Middle East. An EU foreign affairs spokesperson praised Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts and reiterated that dialogue remains the only viable path to peace.
Meanwhile, Oman urged both sides to extend the ceasefire and continue negotiations. Oman’s foreign minister noted that achieving a successful agreement may require difficult compromises but added that such concessions are far less costly than the consequences of continued conflict.
The coordinated international response highlights growing global pressure on both sides to pursue peaceful solutions and prevent further escalation in the region.
