JD Vance Meets PM Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad; Leaders Welcome Talks on Regional Peace

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a high-level meeting with US Vice President JD Vance in Islamabad, where bilateral relations and key regional developments were discussed, according to an official statement.
The meeting was also attended by senior US officials Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, while Pakistan was represented by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
During the talks, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed constructive diplomatic efforts and praised ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States, expressing hope that the dialogue would lead to lasting peace and regional stability.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to facilitating peace efforts and supporting constructive engagement between both sides. He emphasized that Pakistan would continue to play a facilitative role for durable peace in the region.
Earlier, addressing the nation, Sharif described the negotiations as a “critical opportunity” for regional stability. Meanwhile, international media personnel and delegations from around the world have gathered in Islamabad as attention focuses on the ongoing diplomatic engagement.
An Iranian delegation led by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf arrived in Islamabad on Friday evening, while US Vice President JD Vance reached the capital earlier today.
