Aleema Khan Fears Arrest, Demands Imran Khan’s Treatment at Shifa Hospital

RAWALPINDI: Aleema Khan has expressed fears of her possible arrest, claiming that authorities want to imprison her for a long period “simply for speaking the truth,” while demanding proper medical treatment for the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

Speaking to the media after appearing before an anti-terrorism court, Aleema Khan said the PTI founder’s release would only be possible if Justice Sardar Sarfraz Dogar hears the pending cases. She maintained that once bail is granted, Imran Khan will be taken directly from jail to Shifa International Hospital for treatment under the supervision of his personal physician.

She urged the chief justice to take up the cases, criticizing the situation where judges assigned to hear the matter go on leave. “This is injustice,” she said.

Aleema Khan alleged that Imran Khan’s eye condition did not deteriorate in a single day and held former Adiala Jail superintendent Ghafoor Anjum responsible, accusing him of criminal negligence. She said legal proceedings under relevant criminal provisions are being initiated against him, and lawyers have been instructed accordingly.

She further criticized the government, claiming that Imran Khan was examined without the presence of his family or personal doctor. Referring to her sister’s last meeting with him, she said he conveyed a message expressing fears for his life.

Aleema Khan also stated that cases against Imran Khan, Hamid Raza, and others were politically motivated and would eventually collapse. She added that raising questions about his non-transfer to hospital and restrictions on family meetings should not result in further cases against her.

“They want to put me in jail for a long time because I speak the truth,” she said, adding that such actions would not save what she termed a “false political system” and that, in her view, the country would ultimately be run by the people.
