Extortion on Quetta-Chaman Highway Halts Medicine Supply, Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party Demands Action

Chaman (Daily Qudrat) — The **Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party (PNAP)** has raised serious concerns over rampant extortion on the **Quetta-Chaman Highway** and at **Qila Abdullah**, reporting that private militias are allegedly demanding **PKR 50,000 per pickup** from pharmaceutical companies. This has caused a **complete halt in medicine supply** to Chaman.

In a statement, the party criticized the district administration for failing to curb extortion on the main national highway. They alleged that the **Form 47 government** is supporting these criminal elements instead of taking action, making travel along the Quetta-Chaman route extremely unsafe.

The statement further highlighted that refusal to pay extortion has led to increasing **attacks on citizens, travelers, transporters, laborers, and farmers**. A few days ago, a local man was reportedly killed at **Toba Cross** for refusing to pay extortion.

PNAP warned that the ongoing illegal extortion is **endangering public health**, as patients face severe difficulties due to the medicine supply disruption. The party demanded the **immediate dismantling of armed groups, private force networks, and extortion checkpoints** along the highway to ensure the safety of the public and protect business activities.
