Rain, Thunderstorms Forecast Across Pakistan as NDMA Issues Weather Alert

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a nationwide weather alert, forecasting rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds in various parts of the country from today until March 25.
According to the advisory, regions including Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir are likely to experience rain and gusty winds during this period. Authorities have urged provincial and district administrations to remain on high alert.
The NDMA further stated that parts of Balochistan may witness windstorms, strong winds, and rainfall from today until March 23. Meanwhile, cities such as Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Dadu could also receive scattered rainfall.
Separately, the Pakistan Meteorological Department confirmed that a system of westerly winds is expected to enter the country tonight, influencing weather patterns across multiple regions.
Under this system, widespread rain is forecast in most districts of Punjab between March 18 and 20, with chances of hailstorms at isolated locations. However, some areas in Punjab may continue to experience dry weather, with partly cloudy skies and occasional rain accompanied by strong winds in cities such as Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Sargodha, and Mianwali.
The Met Office also noted that Lahore is expected to receive continuous rainfall over the next two days, bringing pleasant weather conditions. Temperatures are likely to drop following the rains, with cooler conditions expected during the Eid period, especially in upper regions.
**Karachi Weather Update:**
Over the next 24 hours, Karachi is expected to experience hot and dry weather, with maximum temperatures ranging between 34°C and 36°C. The minimum temperature recorded today was 23.5°C, with humidity levels at 79 percent. Winds are currently blowing from the southwest at a speed of 4 km/h.
