JUI-B Rejects Qalat Elections as Rigged, Considers Formation of ‘People’s Assembly’: Senator Maulana Abdul Wasi

Quetta: Senator Maulana Abdul Wasi, provincial head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-B) Balochistan, held a press conference at his residence, declaring the Qalat elections as completely rigged and unacceptable. He emphasized that JUI does not support taking up arms or harming the country. Instead, the party’s central leadership will decide whether to participate in future elections.
However, he revealed that the party is seriously considering the creation of an alternative “People’s Assembly”, where provincial issues will be debated and resolutions passed, ensuring genuine representation for the people.
Maulana Abdul Wasi criticized interference in JUI’s ideological constituencies during the 2024 general elections, describing it as a “regrettable chapter in history.” He alleged that results were manipulated through conspiracies, judicial pressure, and administrative hurdles, which undermined public trust in the electoral process.
Citing Khuzdar and Qalat, he stated that where dozens of result copies were required, only a few were provided, and changes in presiding officers and conflicting results exposed electoral fraud. He also acknowledged that despite irregularities, party workers restrained their anger, though youth confidence has been shaken.
He concluded by calling these elections the worst in Pakistan’s history, asserting that enduring oppression and raising one’s voice for justice is the party’s strength, and JUI-B will continue its peaceful democratic struggle with steadfastness.
