Extortion Racket Allegedly Operating on Quetta–Chaman Highway, Transporters and Public Suffer

**Quetta (Daily Qudrat):** Daytime extortion on the **Quetta–Chaman Highway** has caused severe difficulties for the public, transporters, and farmers. According to a statement by the **Afghan National Movement (AQM)**, a **private militia** at **Qila Abdullah** is allegedly collecting **thousands of rupees per vehicle** from trucks carrying poultry, pharmaceuticals, and other goods.

The statement said that due to this illegal practice, the **supply of food items and medicines has been disrupted**, leading to a sharp increase in prices. AQM accused the local administration of **poor performance and patronizing extortionists**, making travel on the highway extremely unsafe.

AQM demanded that the **provincial government** take **immediate and effective measures** to stop extortion on the Quetta–Chaman Highway and ensure the **protection of lives and property**. The party warned that it would launch **strong protests** if action is not taken.
