Pakistan Requests Saudi Arabia to Dispatch 2 Million Barrels Amid Fuel Supply Uncertainty

Islamabad:** Amid uncertainty in the fuel supply chain due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, Pakistan has requested Saudi Arabia to dispatch a **very large crude carrier (VLCC)** carrying 2 million barrels of crude oil to Oman’s port on March 23. Four Pakistani ships are scheduled to collect the oil from there.

Sources say Saudi authorities have not yet confirmed whether the ship will anchor at Oman’s port or directly supply oil in Pakistani waters, leaving the fuel supply chain uncertain.

According to industry sources, **Pak-Arab Refinery Limited (PARCO)** will deploy two ships, **National Refinery Limited** one ship, and **Pakistan Refinery Limited (PRL)** one ship to obtain crude oil from the VLCC. Meanwhile, smaller shipments have already arrived in Pakistan.

A 67,000 metric ton shipment from Fujairah, Dubai, reached Pakistan on Monday night. Additionally, PARCO’s PNSC vessel is expected at Yanbu port in the Red Sea on March 9, from where it will collect approximately 70,000 barrels of crude and return between March 19–20.
