Pashtunkhwa National Party Condemns Harassment of Poor Suzuki Drivers and Small Traders by Customs Officials During Ramadan

Quetta: The Pashtunkhwa National People’s Party has strongly condemned the reported harassment of poor citizens, Suzuki drivers, and small traders by customs officials in Quetta during the holy month of Ramadan.
According to a provincial press release, customs officials have allegedly been targeting the working class under the guise of enforcement operations. Suzuki drivers, who earn their livelihood through daily labor, are reportedly being stopped at various points and asked for money through arbitrary demands, causing unnecessary difficulties.
Small traders bringing essential goods to their shops are also being stopped and harassed despite their supplies being strictly for business purposes. These actions are negatively affecting their businesses and livelihoods.
The party criticized these incidents as particularly unacceptable during Ramadan, a month when state institutions are expected to provide relief to the public rather than create additional hardships.
The statement demanded that authorities take immediate action to halt such alleged harassment and illegal levies by customs officials against poor Suzuki drivers, shopkeepers, and small business owners in Quetta.
The party warned that if the situation is not addressed promptly, it will raise its voice on every constitutional, democratic, and political forum to protect the rights of the working-class citizens and prevent their exploitation.
