ECP Announces Schedule for Quetta Local Government Elections; Polling to Be Held on December 28

Quetta: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has officially announced the schedule for local government elections in the urban union councils of Quetta district, exercising its constitutional and legal authority. The decision comes despite the Balochistan government’s earlier request to postpone the polls.

According to the ECP notification, the election process will begin on **November 11, 2025**, with the issuance of a public notice by the Returning Officers for the filing of nomination papers. Candidates will be able to submit their nomination papers from **November 13 to November 17, 2025**.

The scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted from **November 19 to November 24**, while decisions on appeals will be finalized by **December 3, 2025**. Following the withdrawal of candidature, **election symbols will be allotted on December 6, 2025**.

Polling day has been set for **Sunday, December 28, 2025**, and the consolidation of results is scheduled to be completed by **December 31, 2025**.

The ECP’s move marks a significant step toward restoring local governance in the provincial capital, ensuring democratic representation at the grassroots level despite administrative concerns raised by the provincial government.
