National Party Leader Criticizes Government Over Rs55 per Litre Increase in Fuel Prices

Quetta:** Mir Rehmat Saleh Baloch, central leader of the National Party Pakistan and Deputy Parliamentary Leader, has strongly criticized the government’s decision to increase petrol and diesel prices by **Rs55 per litre**, calling it an unfortunate and anti-public move.
In a statement issued in Quetta, Baloch said the massive increase in petroleum prices would further drive inflation and worsen the difficulties faced by the public.
He said the petrol and diesel currently available in the country had been purchased at previous lower prices, yet the government suddenly imposed a major increase, which he described as **“dropping an inflation bomb on the public.”**
Baloch added that the government is already collecting nearly **Rs100 per litre in taxes and levies** on petroleum products. Under such circumstances, instead of providing relief to citizens, imposing additional financial burden is extremely regrettable and irresponsible.
According to him, the sharp rise in fuel prices will trigger a **new wave of inflation**. He warned that the increase will directly affect ordinary citizens, laborers, farmers, and the middle class, while transportation, food, and other daily necessities are also expected to become more expensive.
He further stated that people already struggling with inflation and economic hardship will face even greater difficulties after this decision.
