Iran-Israel Conflict Sparks Fears of Fuel Shortages in Pakistan; Oil Companies Limit Supply

Islamabad: The ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel is causing ripple effects worldwide, including Pakistan, where oil companies have started restricting fuel supplies to petrol pumps, raising fears of potential shortages.

The All Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association has written to the Prime Minister urging immediate government intervention. The letter stated that oil companies are canceling supply orders and imposing quotas on fuel delivery, creating a risk of artificial scarcity in the market. The association called on authorities to ensure uninterrupted availability of petroleum products.

Global oil markets are also seeing price increases. Brent crude rose by $1.11, or about 1.4%, reaching $82.53 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate crude increased by 79 cents to $75.37 per barrel. Analysts attribute rising prices to production and export disruptions in the Middle East amid regional tensions.
