Why Reject Judicial Commission If May 9 Was Truly Terrorism? Asks Mahmood Khan Achakzai

**Peshawar:** Chairman of Tehreek Tahafuz Aain Pakistan, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, has questioned the state’s narrative regarding the events of May 9, asking why transparent investigations and a judicial commission are being resisted if terrorism had indeed taken place on that day.

Speaking to the media, Achakzai said the state maintains that terrorism occurred on May 9, yet a forensic report circulating on social media has raised serious questions. According to the report, photographs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Taimur Ali Jhagra, and Bangash Sahib have surfaced, with claims that they were present at the scene during the Radio Pakistan incident.

He said that if the events of May 9 were genuinely acts of terrorism, there should be no hesitation in forming an independent judicial commission. “Even Imran Khan, who is currently in jail, is demanding investigations and saying that whoever is responsible should be punished,” Achakzai stated. He emphasized that terrorism is condemnable in all circumstances, whether committed by individuals or by the state. “If the truth is clear, why fear an inquiry?” he questioned.

Achakzai further warned that weakening the bonds that hold the country together would undermine the functioning of the state. He described the constitution as a social contract between the state and the people.

Criticizing the ruling leadership, he claimed that Nawaz Sharif and his entire family had lost the elections but were still clinging to power. He questioned whether they felt any shame before their own children, knowing that the real electoral mandate belonged to someone else.
