T20 World Cup: Salman Ali Agha’s Family Faces Online Harassment After Defeat, Wife Appeals to Fans

Lahore: Following Pakistan’s loss to England in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 stage, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha’s wife has issued a strong statement against online harassment targeting players’ families. She urged fans not to direct their anger toward players’ relatives, especially children.

Hours after England’s victory, she posted on Instagram addressing Pakistani fans, writing, “You will not win the World Cup by abusing me or my innocent son.”

While criticism after high-pressure tournaments is common, some social media users reportedly escalated their attacks into personal threats against Salman Ali Agha’s family.

In the match, England chased Pakistan’s target of 165 runs in 19.1 overs for the loss of 8 wickets, winning by 2 wickets and advancing to the semifinals.

Despite the defeat, Pakistan could still reach the semifinals under certain scenarios. If the Sri Lanka vs. New Zealand match ends without a result, England defeats New Zealand by a large margin, and the Pakistan-Sri Lanka match is also washed out or ends inconclusively, points parity could bring net run rate into consideration. A favorable net run rate may allow Pakistan to qualify for the semifinals, meaning the team’s progression now depends not only on its own results but also on England’s winning margins and outcomes of other matches.

Fans are now closely watching upcoming matches, where every run and wicket could prove decisive for Pakistan’s chances in the tournament.
