Trump Warns of Higher Tariffs for Countries Seeking to Exploit Supreme Court Ruling

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced plans to impose higher tariffs on countries that attempt to take advantage of a recent ruling by the Supreme Court of the United States.

Speaking after the court’s decision, Trump said nations trying to “play games” with the ruling would face tougher trade measures. He warned that any country seeking to benefit from what he described as a “ridiculous decision” by the Supreme Court would be subjected to increased tariffs.

Last week, the Supreme Court declared the tariffs imposed by Trump on several countries unlawful. The court stated that the law cited by Trump to justify the tariffs was intended for use during a national emergency and did not grant the president authority to impose additional tariffs in the manner applied.

In response, Trump argued that as president, he does not need to seek approval from Congress to implement tariffs, maintaining that the executive branch holds sufficient authority on trade matters.

The development sets the stage for a potential constitutional and political confrontation over presidential powers and trade policy in the United States.
