Saudi Arabia Launches ‘Ala Khutah’ Project to Commemorate Historic Hijrah Journey

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has officially launched the “Ala Khutah” project, a cultural and tourism initiative aimed at commemorating the historic Hijrah (migration) of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) from Makkah to Madinah.
According to reports, the project documents and preserves the 470-kilometer historic migration route from Mecca to Medina, offering visitors a spiritually immersive and historically informative experience. The initiative seeks to revive the memories of the sacred journey and allow pilgrims and tourists to connect with its profound spiritual and historical significance.

The head of the General Entertainment Authority, Turki Al-Sheikh, shared a video of the inauguration ceremony on his official X (formerly Twitter) account. He stated that the project has been launched in Madinah and aims to document the Prophet’s migration route within an organized educational framework to enhance understanding of the Prophet’s biography (Seerah).
The General Entertainment Authority said the initiative incorporates modern storytelling and presentation technologies and will run for six months. The unique experience guides visitors along the Hijrah route, from Cave of Thawr to Quba Mosque, covering more than 470 kilometers and passing through over 41 historical sites.

Rest areas, hospitality services, restaurants, and shops have been established along the route, carefully designed to recreate the atmosphere of the historic journey while providing an informative and interactive experience.
The project also aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 goals, aiming to strengthen the Kingdom’s position on the global cultural tourism map by promoting its rich heritage and expanding tourism opportunities for both domestic and international visitors.
