Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Aain Pakistan Condemns February 8 Illegal Actions, Vows to Continue Protest for Political Rights

Quetta (Qudrat Daily) – A meeting of Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Aain Pakistan was held at the central secretariat of Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party under the chairmanship of provincial president Abdul Qahar Khan Wadan. Leaders from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Majlis Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen also attended. The session included former provincial minister Ainullah Shams from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Rahim Kakr, president of the Central Traders Association, and Hazrat Ali.

The meeting reviewed the illegal actions during the peaceful wheel-jam and shutter-down strike on February 8, 2026, including the unlawful arrests of political activists, passersby, and street vendors, their detention in Quetta jail, inhumane treatment, the misconduct of Additional Deputy Commissioner Anwar Kakr, and deprivation of basic facilities by jail authorities.

The participants stated that while the country’s constitution guarantees the right to political and democratic struggle, the government’s illegal measures against peaceful protest are deeply condemnable. They also criticized the imposition of Section 144, which caused severe inconvenience to Quetta’s residents, blocked key roads, and worsened traffic disruptions, especially during VIP movements.

Former provincial minister Ainullah Shams emphasized that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman had canceled the February 8 protest schedule. He called for the release of Imran Khan and condemned the violence and arrests of political activists, promising full cooperation in future plans.

Rahim Kakr, president of the Central Traders Association, said that Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Aain Pakistan would fully support the democratic protest, highlighting that trade and employment in the province had been severely affected by illegal raids and confiscations, causing economic hardship.

Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Aain Pakistan leaders welcomed the solidarity statements from the Judicial Bar Council and stressed that the unconstitutional measures of the government would be challenged through legal channels, asserting that political activists cannot be stopped by coercion or violence.
