Comprehensive Security Plan to Make Islamabad One of the Safest Cities Within Seven Days: Chief Commissioner

Islamabad: Following directives from Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, a joint meeting of the district administration and Islamabad Police was held to review the law and order situation in the federal capital.
The meeting was jointly chaired by Chief Commissioner Islamabad and Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa and Inspector General of Police Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi. Senior officers from the district administration and Islamabad Police attended the session.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on ensuring security arrangements at the divisional level to make Islamabad a safer city. The Chief Commissioner stated that, on the instructions of the interior minister, a comprehensive strategy would be implemented within seven days to transform Islamabad into one of the safest cities in the country.
Briefing the meeting, the IGP Islamabad said that monitoring systems at all entry and exit points of the federal capital would be further strengthened. He added that a modern mechanism is being developed to monitor movement and traffic throughout the city.
The meeting also reviewed measures taken to further improve the law and order situation and prevent crime. The IGP emphasized that the protection of citizens’ lives, property, and dignity remains the top priority of Islamabad Police, which is working round the clock to ensure public safety.
He further stated that security would be enhanced across the city, including the Diplomatic Enclave and Red Zone. The Islamabad Safe City project has been upgraded in line with modern requirements, enabling effective surveillance of major roads, commercial centers, and residential sectors through advanced cameras and technology.
Officials informed the meeting that timely action is being taken against terrorist threats and criminal elements using modern surveillance tools, with the goal of making Islamabad a crime-free city.
The meeting agreed to adopt a zero-tolerance policy against criminal elements and suspicious activities, stressing that no compromise would be made in this regard. It was also decided to maintain close monitoring of suspicious individuals and compile comprehensive data on them.
It was shared during the briefing that door-to-door surveys in urban areas have been completed, while similar surveys in rural areas will be finalized soon.
Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa directed that special surveillance be ensured at all entry and exit points of Islamabad, patrols across the city be increased, and monitoring through modern CCTV cameras be further strengthened.
Concluding the meeting, the Chief Commissioner said that coordination among all relevant institutions would be enhanced, and all available resources and technology would be utilized to ensure the safety, security, and dignity of citizens in the federal capital at all costs.
