PTI Lawmaker Criticizes Own Government Over “50 Lakh Homes and 1 Million Jobs” Promises

Lahore: Abdul Karim Tordher, a member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, openly criticized his own provincial government during a recent assembly session.

Speaking in the assembly, Tordher questioned the status of promises made by the government, including 50 lakh homes, 1 million jobs, and various tourism and IT projects. He noted that his previous attempt to highlight facts had angered the provincial finance adviser, Mazamil Aslam.

He alleged that development schemes from the Annual Development Program (ADP) for his constituency were being removed and that discriminatory practices were being followed in prioritizing projects. Tordher called for an end to the “pick-and-choose” policy, emphasizing that all regions should be treated fairly.

Highlighting local issues, he said that the Sawabi district, despite being one of the highest revenue-generating areas in the province, lacked basic facilities. He pointed out the rising cancer cases in Karak without an A-grade hospital, inadequate updates in the electricity system despite cheap production, and the absence of effective measures to stop illegal fishing in rivers.

Tordher urged the government to enact effective legislation to protect citizens’ rights, warning that without meaningful action, good governance would remain limited to claims and presentations.
