Sirajul Haq Calls for Granting Rights to Balochistan, Says Justice Is Key to Lasting Peace

QUETTA: Former Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan and former Senator Sirajul Haq has said that granting due rights to the people of Balochistan and utilizing the province’s resources for the welfare of its own people is essential. He stressed that lasting peace in Balochistan can only be achieved by taking all stakeholders into confidence and restoring the trust of the local population.
Addressing a gathering in Jafarabad on the occasion of hundreds of workers from the National Party joining Jamaat-e-Islami, Sirajul Haq said that dividing the people of Balochistan on Baloch and Pashtun lines is an injustice. He criticized a policy allegedly being run from Islamabad for the past 40 years, stating that it has fueled hatred and prejudice, leaving the province trapped in violence and instability.
He remarked that while the world is progressing and humanity has reached the moon, Balochistan is witnessing the expansion of graveyards. “There is no shortage of resources in Balochistan; the real issue is injustice. Justice is more powerful than the use of force,” he added.
Sirajul Haq praised Engineer Abdul Majeed Badini for representing the people effectively and expressed confidence that Jafarabad could be developed as a model district. He said that the people of Gwadar and Jafarabad have shown trust in Jamaat-e-Islami, whose leadership, according to him, is free from corruption and sincere to the public. He claimed that if the people of entire Balochistan place their trust in Jamaat-e-Islami, the province will move towards development, adding that Jamaat-e-Islami offers a solution to Balochistan’s problems.
The event was attended by senior leaders of the National Party Jafarabad, including Mir Ataullah Marri, Mir Gul Muhammad Marri, and Ahsan Khosa, who led the group joining Jamaat-e-Islami. Deputy Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan and Parliamentary Secretary S&GAD Engineer Abdul Majeed Badini, Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Jafarabad Professor Muhammad Ayub Mansoor, and other party officials were also present.
Earlier, Sirajul Haq was accorded a warm welcome upon his arrival at Manzoor Ahmed Khosa House in Dera Allah Yar, district Jafarabad, where a dinner was also hosted in his honor.
Speaking on the occasion, Sirajul Haq said that the youth of Balochistan are talented, hardworking, and loving, but to eliminate poverty, illiteracy, prejudice, and a sense of deprivation, rulers and the establishment must work with sincerity, honesty, and integrity. He emphasized that deprivation of rights, resources, and education are major issues in the province and urged that missing persons allegedly picked up without due process be brought before the courts in accordance with the Constitution.
A large number of Jamaat-e-Islami leaders, local elders, and political workers also attended the dinner ceremony.
