Acid Attack on Lady Doctor at Civil Hospital Quetta: Young Doctors Association Issues 24-Hour Ultimatum for Arrest of Culprits

QUETTA: The Young Doctors Association (YDA) has strongly condemned the acid attack on a female postgraduate trainee doctor at the surgical unit of Sandeman Civil Hospital Quetta during duty hours, terming it a grave security failure and a complete collapse of the government’s responsibility to protect doctors.

In a strongly worded statement, YDA leaders said the brutal attack by unidentified assailants reflects that doctors, especially female medical professionals working in hospitals, are completely unsafe and vulnerable. They stated that the government has failed to fulfill its basic duty of ensuring security in healthcare institutions.

The association warned Chief Minister Balochistan, Health Minister, Health Secretary, Commissioner Quetta, Inspector General of Police, and Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital that if the perpetrators are not arrested within 24 hours and brought to justice under anti-terrorism laws, YDA Balochistan will launch a complete and indefinite boycott of all medical services across the province.

They further stated that any resulting crisis or consequences from the strike will be the responsibility of the government and concerned authorities.
