Netherlands 31/2 Against Pakistan in ICC T20 World Cup Opener

Colombo — In the ICC T20 World Cup opener, the Netherlands are currently 31 for 2 in their innings against Pakistan. The match is being played in Colombo, where Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha won the toss and elected to field first.

The Dutch openers, Michael Leut and Max O’Dowd, gave their team a steady start of 28 runs. Max O’Dowd was the first to fall for 5 runs, caught off Salman Mirza’s delivery. Michael Leut followed as the second wicket, dismissed by Mohammad Nawaz after scoring 24 runs.

Ahead of the match, Salman Ali Agha had said he was seeing a pitch like this for the first time in Sri Lanka and that Pakistan would rely on their three pacers and stick to their planned strategy.

Pakistan’s playing XI includes Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, Babar Azam, and Usman Khan, along with Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, Faheem Ashraf, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Salman Mirza, and Abrar Ahmed.

Netherlands captain Scott Edwards said that while they might have preferred to bowl first if they had won the toss, batting first was also acceptable. He emphasized the importance of the match, noting that every group-stage game is crucial.

The ICC T20 World Cup features 20 teams divided into four groups. On the first day, three matches are scheduled, including West Indies vs Scotland and India vs USA. Rain is also forecasted during the match, making the toss even more significant.
