Lahore High Court Accepts Petition Against Imran Khan’s Video Link Trial Notification

Lahore: The Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court has accepted a petition challenging the video link trial notification for PTI founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan in all cases, including the GHQ attack and May 9 incidents.
The bench, comprising Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan and Justice Tahir Mahmood Bajwa, issued notices to the Advocate General Punjab, directing a response, and also ordered personal appearance. The hearing has been adjourned indefinitely.
Representing Imran Khan, advocates Sardar Latif Khosa and Faisal Malik argued that conducting such a significant trial via video link undermines the right to a fair trial. They noted that other accused individuals appear physically in court, while Imran Khan is only allowed to participate through video link. They contended that this notification violates Article 10A of the Constitution, which guarantees the right to a fair trial, and hinders proper consultation between a lawyer and client.
The lawyers described the measure as political retaliation and requested the court to nullify the video link trial notification.
The Lahore High Court accepted the petition for hearing but rejected the request for an immediate hearing date, stating that the office will schedule it in due course.
