PIA Flight PK-150 Pilot Faces Investigation for Wrong Landing at Lahore Airport

Islamabad:The preliminary investigation into the incident involving Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight PK-150, which made an incorrect landing at Lahore Airport instead of its destination in Multan, has revealed that the pilot disregarded the control tower’s instructions and landed the aircraft on the wrong runway.
According to media reports released on Sunday, the Board of Safety Investigation (BSI) has initiated an inquiry into the incident. Both the pilot and first officer are being questioned as part of the investigation.
Initial findings suggest that the pilot ignored the instructions of the Air Traffic Control (ATC) and diverted the aircraft to a runway one mile away from the designated one. The pilot landed the plane on a different runway than the one instructed by the control tower.
The ATC had directed the pilot to land on runway number 36R. Following this, under the guidance of the Board of Safety, the pilot and first officer underwent tests, including urine samples for investigation.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has confirmed that the actions of the PIA captain and first officer endangered the lives of the passengers on board, as they disregarded ATC instructions and violated flight safety regulations.
It is worth noting that the PIA flight PK-150, traveling from Dammam to Multan, was forced to make an emergency landing at Lahore Airport due to dense fog. During the landing process, the pilot mistakenly chose a different runway instead of the one directed by ATC. Following the incident, PIA grounded both the pilot and the first officer involved in the mishap.
