FBR Sets New Customs Values for Used and Refurbished Branded Mobile Phones Imported from Abroad

**Islamabad (Daily Qudrat):** The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced new customs values for the import of used and refurbished branded mobile phones from abroad.
The Directorate General of Customs Valuation Karachi, under the FBR, has set these new values specifically for old and refurbished mobile phones. Petitions for review of the new valuations can be filed within 30 days from the date of the notification issuance, directly with the Directorate General of Customs Valuation Karachi.
The revised valuations are expected to significantly reduce the overall PTA taxes on these phones, affecting popular smartphone brands including Apple, Samsung, Google, and OnePlus.
Under the new customs values, the used iPhone 15, with an average import price of $350 (approximately PKR 97,800), will incur PTA taxes of PKR 34,101 under CNIC and PKR 31,640 under a passport, bringing its total price in Pakistan to around PKR 130,000 or higher.
Similarly, the used iPhone 15 Plus, priced at $370 (about PKR 103,465), will attract PTA taxes of PKR 46,068 under CNIC and PKR 40,448 under a passport, making its total price approximately PKR 145,000 or more. The iPhone 15 Pro, averaging $400 (around PKR 111,400), will have PTA taxes of PKR 47,580 under CNIC and PKR 41,960 under a passport, bringing the total to roughly PKR 155,000. The iPhone 15 Pro Max will see PTA taxes of PKR 50,604 (CNIC) and PKR 44,984 (passport), making its total cost approximately PKR 175,000.
Authorities note that the new customs valuations make used iPhones relatively more affordable for Pakistani consumers, which is expected to boost market demand for these devices.
