Revelation: Consumers Charged Three Different Taxes on Petroleum Products

**Islamabad:** Details of taxes being collected from consumers on petroleum products have been presented in the National Assembly, revealing that **three different types of taxes** are being charged on fuel prices.
According to official documents, consumers are paying **Rs78 per litre in taxes on high-speed diesel** and **Rs82 per litre on petrol**. In addition, a **10 percent customs duty** is also being collected on both high-speed diesel and petrol.
The documents show that high-speed diesel carries a **petroleum levy of Rs75.41 per litre**, a **climate support levy of Rs2.50 per litre**, along with the **10 percent customs duty**.
Similarly, petrol is subject to a **petroleum levy of Rs79.62 per litre**, while furnace oil carries a petroleum levy of **Rs77 per litre**. Petrol is also charged a **Rs2.50 climate support levy** and a **10 percent customs duty**.
It was further disclosed that a **petroleum levy of Rs18.95 per litre** is being charged on kerosene oil and **Rs15.37 per litre** on light diesel oil, while **18 percent GST** is being collected on furnace oil.
According to the documents, the **petroleum levy is being collected under the Petroleum Levy and Climate Support Ordinance, 1961**, while the **climate support levy has been imposed since July 1, 2025**.
