Lahore Tops List of World’s Most Polluted Cities

Lahore: The capital of Punjab, Lahore, has once again ranked **as the world’s most polluted city**, according to the latest air quality data.

Lahore’s **Air Quality Index (AQI)** reached **279**, placing it ahead of **New Delhi**, which ranked second with an AQI of **270**. The city continues to experience **hazardous levels of smog and particulate matter**, severely affecting visibility and public health.

According to air quality monitoring data, several areas in Lahore recorded **extremely high pollution levels** — **Sanda Road (AQI 767)**, **Township (758)**, and **Model Town (574)**.

Other cities across Punjab also showed alarming pollution levels. In the morning hours, **Multan** recorded **PM2.5 levels at 485**, **Faisalabad at 622**, and **Bahawalpur at 255**.

Authorities and medical experts have urged citizens to **wear masks**, **limit outdoor activities**, and **follow health precautions**, especially for children and the elderly.

Meanwhile, **Dhaka** ranked third on the list of the world’s most polluted cities.

Environmental experts have warned that **persistent smog** and **poor air management** could lead to serious respiratory illnesses if immediate measures are not taken to curb industrial and vehicular emissions.
