Sindh Government Spokesperson Hits Back at Jamaat-e-Islami, Praises Karachi Mayor’s Performance

KARACHI: Sindh Government spokesperson Sadia Javed has criticized Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman over his recent press conference, claiming that areas where Jamaat-e-Islami failed to deliver services have seen progress under the leadership of the city’s mayor.

Responding to Hafiz Naeem’s remarks, Sadia Javed said political groups that spend their time criticizing other parties often adopt different positions when it suits their interests, referring to political alliances in Gilgit-Baltistan and demands directed at President Asif Ali Zardari.

She stated that President Zardari has consistently promoted a message of national unity and cooperation, emphasizing that all political parties and institutions should work together for the country’s development and stability.

The spokesperson also questioned critics of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), saying that those who benefited from military-led governments in the past have little grounds to label others as political allies of non-democratic forces.

Highlighting Eid-ul-Azha sanitation efforts, Sadia Javed said the public had witnessed the cleanliness operations carried out during the holiday. She accused Jamaat-e-Islami of focusing on collecting animal hides rather than acknowledging the work done by civic agencies.

According to her, the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board removed more than 170,000 tons of animal waste and offal during the three days of Eid, describing the operation as a major public service effort.

The remarks came amid an ongoing exchange of criticism between the Sindh government and Jamaat-e-Islami over governance and municipal performance in Karachi.
