Show Performance Like Sindh, Other Provinces Urged, Says Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon

Islamabad: Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Memon has urged other provinces to demonstrate performance similar to Sindh, lamenting that, unfortunately, politics has largely become a platform for criticism rather than constructive work.

Speaking to the media during a visit to the National Press Club in Islamabad, Memon highlighted the Sindh government’s achievements in healthcare, infrastructure, and development. He said that Sindh is the only province providing free treatment through CyberKnife technology, noting that this treatment is available in only 11 countries worldwide and costs millions of dollars globally.

He added that last year, 2.9 million patients received free treatment in Sindh’s public hospitals. At NICVD, 56% of cardiac patients from other provinces also receive treatment in Sindh. Discussing flood recovery, Memon stated that Sindh plans to build 2.1 million homes for affected people, providing them free of cost. He also highlighted the province’s achievements in environmental projects, such as planting mangrove trees and setting two Guinness World Records.

Memon emphasized that the Sindh government has invested $1 billion in Thar’s infrastructure, with electricity generated from Thar coal being supplied nationwide. Experts note that coal provides the cheapest source of electricity, and Thar holds the largest coal reserves in Pakistan.

He also noted active collaboration between the private business community and the Sindh government, citing the Shaheed Bhutto Highway project as a state-of-the-art public-private partnership. Memon stated that Sindh is attracting domestic and international investment, stressing that a negative mindset will not help the country progress. Referring to the “Sindh Vision” introduced by the Chief Minister in 2024, he said the aim is to showcase the opportunities available in Pakistan to the entire world.
