Trump Urges Iranian Public to Continue Protests, Promises U.S. Assistance

Islamabad: Former U.S. President Donald Trump has urged the Iranian public to continue their protests and take control of state institutions, assuring them that U.S. assistance is on the way.

In a statement posted on Truth Social, Trump addressed Iranians as “patriotic citizens” and encouraged them to keep up their demonstrations, warning that “killers and oppressors will pay a heavy price.”

Trump also announced that he had canceled all meetings with Iranian officials until the violence and killings cease. Adapting his famous campaign slogan, he coined a new phrase for Iran: “Make Iran Great Again,” signaling potential U.S. involvement in Iranian affairs.
Earlier, he claimed in interviews aboard Air Force One that Iranian leaders had sought contact with him and expressed a willingness to negotiate, while hinting that action could be taken depending on developments on the ground.

Meanwhile, Iranian authorities have shown openness to dialogue but warned that any foreign aggression would be met with a swift and strong response.

The recent protests in Iran, which began in late December in Tehran over rising inflation, have spread to other cities and turned violent. Iranian officials have accused the U.S. and Israel of supporting the unrest. In response, large pro-government rallies were held nationwide on Monday, with demonstrators voicing opposition to foreign interference and pledging support for national leadership.
