Ishaq Dar Emphasizes Unity: “We Are One Family and Must Move Forward Together”

Dhaka: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has stressed the importance of strengthening ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh, stating that the two nations are “one family” and must work together for a better future.

Speaking to the media in Dhaka, Dar responded to a question from a Bengali journalist regarding the events of 1971. He noted, “My dear brother, this issue was first resolved in writing in 1974. That document is historic and is present with both countries.” He also recalled the visit of former President General (R) Pervez Musharraf to Dhaka, highlighting his open-hearted discussions on the matter.

Dar emphasized that just like in a family or between brothers, disputes should not define relationships forever. “We are one family. We must move forward together so that we can work for the betterment of the people of both countries,” he said.

He further added, “Once an issue is resolved, even Islam teaches us to keep our hearts clean.”

The statement comes amid ongoing efforts to improve diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
